i havent noticed this making a difference in my cats' energy levels or coats, but i feel good feeding it to them because the ingredients are good and it mixes easily into the freeze-dried raw food i rehydrate for them daily. also, it smells amazing. i'm not going to eat it, but i kind of want to...
This is a great supplement for cats. I was looking for a good supplement to add to my kitties diet that also had probiotics. Of the products I researched online this formula had the best ingredients and was very affordable too. When I first received the cat mix powder and saw it recommended 2 scoops per day it seemed like a lot for my little 8# kitty, with as little as she eats so I wondered how I was going to serve it to her? One scoop would be too much to add into the tiny amount of wet food she eats daily (1 t) so that's why I decided to try adding it to her dry food she eats which is a little over 1/4 cup twice daily. In the beginning my kitty didn't like the powder on her dry food, which turned out to be very convenient for me because I could take the opportunity to gradually increase her wet food from 1 t to 1 T per serving, yay!I found there was enough moisture on the dry kitty food (Kirkland Super Premium Maintenance Cat Formula) for the cat mix powder to adhere to. I began gradually introducing the powder to her dry food over a two week time period. I sprinkled the cat mix powder over her dry food then would shake it around in her dish until it coated the dry kitty food. It took a couple of weeks gradually increasing the powder until I was adding a full scoop to her morning dry food (little over 1/4 cup) and another scoop in the evening. Now that she has accepted the cat mix fully she scrambles into the kitchen excitedly meowing whenever she hears the noise of me shaking her kitty dish to cover the dry food with the powder. You should see her, it's like she hasn't eaten in days! LOLThe best thing of all, she is happier and healthier than I have ever seen her now that she is eating the cat mix powder with her food. It made quite a difference both to and for her. She has always had beautiful fur but now it's even softer and shinier actually feels like bunny fur when you pet and cuddle her. :)*When I received it and opened the container there was a foil seal. I pulled it back halfway and folded it back. Then searched for the tiny scoop inside the container with a table knife. I keep the scoop on top of the foil when I close the lid so I don't have to pull it out of the powder each time I want to use it. (When you close the lid it makes a slight indentation where the scoop sits.)
Our four year old cat loves this stuff. We mix a little sour cream with it and let her lick it off the spoon. She has been way more energetic and playful since using this product. If fact, her dandruff problem has gone away. I don't know why other people complain about smell, we've had no problems.
Cat does not know it is in his food. Makes me feels better giving him this with raw food diet.
Full confession: I've bought this item before. My cat hated it, so it wasted away in the refrigerator until I threw it out.But I tried it again a couple of years later because my elderly cat seemed to have stiffness in her joints and I wanted to find relief for her. Also, the reviews were so good.I'm so glad I gave it another chance. The supplement arrived on Monday. This time I was wiser. I only put half a scoop in her wet food -- not enough for her to notice or reject.By Tuesday, she seemed different. Her cognitive abilities and mood seemed improved. She seemed to "speak" more with her eyes. Her fur seemed softer.By Wednesday, she was jumping on the cabinets again, which she hadn't done for some time. She seemed more active in general.I'm not receiving any benefits from posting this review: no free or discounted product. I just wanted to share what a help it's been for my cat.But it's a great supplement. Try it -- and find sneaky ways to get it in the kitty if she rejects it.
